Donation for donor spirit

Dublin High School was recently the recipient of a $500 grant from Carter Blood Care. Schools who hosted at least three blood drives per year are eligible for the grant and the money can be used for scholarships or other needs the district may have. Presenting the check was Debbie Grover, center, from Carter Bloodcare. FCCLA sponsor Regina Rasberry, Principal Norma Briseno, Assistant Principal Cedric Ivie along with several students accepted the check on behalf of the school.

Tarleton hosting womens’ self defense course

The Tarleton State University Police Department is offering a self-defense course designed specifically for women. The instructors, Sgt. Amanda Miller and Officer Doug Johnson, will emphasize education and awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance.

Bidding starts soon in CCHF fundraiser

The Comanche County Healthcare Foundation reported that tickets are now on sale for the annual dinner and auction fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 16 while bidding for the online auction will start Sunday, Sept. 3.

Food plot benefits to wildlife Dykes, assistant professor in the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, said warm- and coolseason food plots provide benefits beyond attracting white-tailed deer during hunting season. They also support other mammal and bird species during times when forage isn’t abundant and create opportunities for wildlife viewing.
