Abbott Swears in Springer

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, Governor Greg Abbott swore-in Senator Drew Springer at the Governor's Mansion in Austin. Springer will serve as state senator on behalf of Senate District 30 following his win of the special run-off election last month. 

Weekly COVID Report - Jan. 8, 2021

Erath County officials reported 22 new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday night (Jan. 7). Fourteen of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville and eight were rural residents of the county.

Relief bill offers help to Tarleton students

 Included in the federal coronavirus relief package passed in December is more than $22 billion for higher education. For Tarleton State University, that means extra help for students financially impacted by COVID-19 and assistance with institutional expenses incurred because of the pandemic.

In 1999, when Hobey Hoffman was a senior in high school, Hoffman’s friends introduced him to a girl named Kasey who worked at Dairy Queen in town. They hit it off, and started dating. Soon after, they got married. Hoffman left school his senior year to start a family and begin working full time.

LHS grad recognized at Midwestern

Lingleville High School graduate Rebekah Proffitt was among recent students recognized by Midwestern State University when she was named to the President’s Honor Roll. Midwestern recognized 1,104 honor students for the Spring 2020 semester.
