COVID Update

Erath County officials reported that the county had 276 active cases of COVID-19 in its Monday night report. (This was up from 247 active cases reported by county officials on the Monday before.) The county report also showed that hospitalizations had dropped from 17 last week to 16.

August 14 At 1:43 a.m. a Ford Explorer knocked the wheel off a John Deere bailer before rolling over onto its side on FM 8 West. After the driver exited, the vehicle began smoking but no flames were seen. At 1:32 p.m. another vehicle rolled over on FM 219 North. At 6:21 p.m.

August 16 A reporting person advised Dublin PD of suspicious activity, saying that the past couple of days, they had found a shredded roll of paper towels in their car after visiting the post office.

When Pablo Melendres was growing up in Dublin, his father, Lolo Salinas, encouraged him to become a welder. “He said it was a good honest living,” Melendres said. Now, more than 20 years later, Melendres is a career welder. Melendres’ father, however, passed away in 2003.
