CCMC offers women’s health screenings

Comanche County Medical Center offers the following message for women: Has your busy life kept you from getting your annual cervical screening? Many women have put off getting a pap test or HPV screening during the pandemic.

Vet unveils watercolor works

Local veteran Chuck Markham was hosted at the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council River North Gallery for a special reception in honor of his exhibition of watercolor art.

Lions Club hosting raffle

January 3 A Reporting Person called for a welfare check on a dog on N. Grafton that was tied up with a a chain. The responding officer ensured the dog had shelter, food and water. A caller reported a man kicked in a door on S. Park, yelled and ran away.

SHERIFF’S REPORT

January 7 At 11:18 a.m. a grass fire broke out on Hwy 6 East starting from a heat lamp and endangered multiple structures before being put out. At 9:26 p.m. everyone managed to get out of a one-story house fire on CR 128 which started in the garage and spread rapidly to the house. At 10:22 p.m.

January 26 is Mirabeau B. Lamar Day, a day to salute the Father of Education in Texas. On that date in 1839, the Republic of Texas Congress passed The Education Act, setting aside land for public schools. It was President Mirabeau B.
