(Part 2) On November 21, 1920, Jake Hamon, the rich oil man, railroad tycoon and politician was shot upstairs in the Randol Hotel while talking to his girlfriend. Jake, reeling in pain, came downstairs and collapsed in the dining room. He said that he was cleaning his gun when it went off.

100 years ago March 17, 1922 J.J. McDaniel of DeLeon, along with brothers and associates, bought the Prim building on S. Patrick and was moving their bottling facility from DeLeon to Dublin. They owned exclusive rights for Coca-Cola for a wide section of Central and Western Texas.
Comanche County Hospital Healthcare Foundation board members last week presented a check to Comanche County Hospital for almost $70,000 to cover the costs of more equipment for patient care at the hospital. A check for almost $70,000 presented last week to the Comanche County Hospital form the Comanche County Healthcare Foundation brought value of equipment purchased for the hospital to more than $1 million. That total has been raised by the foundation since it was founded some 17 years ago.

An estimated 2800 visitors flocked to Dublin Saturday for the St. Patrick’s Celebration, taking in the parade, all manner of competitions (including kilt, beard, pet and costume), live entertainment, the D&D Rockin’ Rod car show, dozens of vendors, the fly-in at the Dublin Airport and more.

The 2022 Dublin St. Patrick’s Day celebration Saturday offered plenty of chances for athletes to show off and having fun with 80 runner coming out for the Shamrock Shuffle 5K, dozens of disc golfers competing at the city park and a small crowd competing at the Tex-Irish games.
