WAC, ASUN announce partnership

Officially titled the WAC-ASUN Challenge, the Western Athletic Conference and ASUN Conference have agreed on a football scheduling alliance that will allow for the seven institutions to be eligible for an automatic qualification into the 2021 NCAA FCS Playoffs.

The Dublin Lions threw bracelets to fans as they rounded the Corner Lot (above) on their way to an 85-82 victory against Holliday at Weatherford Friday night. The Lions advanced to the Area Playoffs on Wednesday night as they faced Wall at Howard Payne University. Results of that game will be available at dublincitizen.com and in next week’s edition. The Lingleville Lady Cardinals were heading into the Regional Quarterfinals Tuesday night as they prepared to face the Iredell Lady Dragons at Stephenville. The Lingleville girls claimed the Area title in a 42-39 victory over the Priddy Pirates Friday night at Dublin.

The Lingleville Cardinals were slated to enter Playoffs this week but a date and time had yet to be decided due to a delay in the Blanket/ Richland Springs game. The Cards, who were undefeated in district are set to play the winner of that Tuesday night match-up.

The Lingleville Lady Cardinals are entering the Area Playoff in a rescheduled game Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Dublin against Priddy. This follows the team claiming the Bi-District Championship title Friday night in a 52-47 triumph over the Morgan Lady Eagles at Dublin.

The Dublin Lions are entering the playoff schedule Saturday when they will face Holliday at 7 p.m. at Weatherford High School in a game that was rescheduled from Thursday night due to inclement weather. The Lions ended the season on Feb. 9 in a 96-51 home loss to Brock.
