He was one of the first politicians to campaign by helicopter. Johnson was behind in the polls and needed something unusual to get people’s attention and to shake as many hands as possible. Lyndon Baines Johnson visited Dublin on June 29, 1948.

FBC hosting vaccine clinic Monday

Dublin First Baptist Church (220 E. Live Oak) is hosting a free COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccine pop-up clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 28. The clinic is being conducted by Texas Health Resources and is open to all persons 12 and older. Minors ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Selden Homecoming canceled

The Selden Homecoming, which is normally on the last Sunday in June at the Selden Community Center, will not be held, again, this year (2021) due to the coronavirus. —submitted
