Time to register for PeeWee Basketball

It’s time for Basketball PeeWee Basketball Season and registration is officially open! Deadline to register your 1st-6th grade child is Nov. 12. Forms were sent home with Dublin students this week. Parents can swing by any time at Granny Clark’s or The Wicked Clover and grab them in person.

Lone Star Iris Society to meet Nov. 6

The Lone Star Iris Society is looking forward to our November meeting. Our meeting will be held November 6, 12 noon, at the Hico Community Center, 102 N. Railroad, Hico, Texas.

Quilt of Valor Ceremony set Nov. 11

A Quilt of Valor ceremony hosted by the Dublin Historical Museum will be held at 6 pm on November 11 to honor two Vietnam veterans by presenting them with original, homemade quilts. The Quilt of Valor Foundation was established in 2003 by a mother of a deployed soldier in Iraq.

The Bosque River Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet on Tuesday, November 9 at 2:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church of Stephenville. The program will be about the Texas Rangers. In addition, the chapter will celebrate the November 3rd birthday of Stephen F.

DEDC awards grants

The Dublin Economic Development Corp., meeting in regular session on Tuesday, approved two Home Improvement Grant applications. Barbara Poplin was awarded $350.52 for improvements to her home at 402 W. Live Oak. Chase Timmons received $3,000 for a house at 423 W. Mesquite.

Hico News Review The Hico Cross Country varsity girls team was second in Regionals, qualifying them for the state meet. Advancing were: Yesenia Osoria, Grace Booth, Kelli McKee, Kaylee Hunt, Caroline Langley, Vicky Zuniga and Emma Folks. Their coach is Marianne Wienecke.

100 Years Ago Nov. 4, 1921 The Texas-Iowa Oil syndicate reported that drilling was expected to start in the next week at the Laney Well near Duffau. W.W. Murrel reportedly traded his 100-acre farm a mile and a half from Dublin to M.M. Dixon for his sevenbungalow house within the city limits.
