Double N Cowboy Church’s fall series of their Family Fun Days start at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 when the books open for an evening of rodeo fun in the Double N Arena.Events starting at 7:30 p.m. include barrels, poles and more. Fun, food and drinks will also be served!

Dublin sales tax down in June

Dublin sales tax collections were down significantly in June at -10.94%, compared to June 2023, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar.For the month of June, Dublin received $58,956.26, compared to $66,203.81 in June 2023.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce has a new but familiar face at the helm along with a new location.Jennifer Hayes has recently been hired as the executive director for the chamber, and the chamber and visitor’s center has relocated to the Blackjack Office Center located in downtown Dublin at 126 E.

Burn ban issued

A 90-day burn ban is now in effect for Erath County.In a special called Erath County Commissioners Court meeting Monday, Aug. 19, the court unanimously approved a burn ban due to an increased number of fires, high temperatures and low rainfall in the area.

Over the weekend, the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department was busy not only in town but also assisting other departments with multiple call outs over the weekend.On the evening of Friday, Aug. 16, Dublin VFD was requested by Comanche VFD in a mutual aid call for a fire at a pecan orchard off CR 315.

Neighbors reportedly watched gratefully Aug. 14 and 15 as city crews gathered at 555 Camden to demolish a vacant building in violation of the city’s dangerous building ordinance. After a day and a half of work, only a leveled field remains.
