Fifty shades of beige

Remember the beige craze of the 2000s? If you wanted to sell your house, you’d paint the interior walls of your house “bashful beige,” “autumn wheat,” “tasteful tan,” “totally taupe,” or “burnt oatmeal.” Yes, if your house had fifty shades of beige, you’d sell your house lickety-split.

Where Are They Now?

Jess Pendleton’s career has never been linear, but it’s always been fun. “My career has taken a lot of really weird twists and turns and it’s given me the opportunity to understand my strengths and my weaknesses,” she said.

Both sides of the aisle

God have mercy on America. “For they are a nation destitute of counsel, And there is no understanding in them. If only they were wise and they understood this; If only they would discern their future (Deuteronomy 32:28-29 NASB)!” God’s message to Israel (through Moses) is relevant to us today.

Why can’t God hear me?

Here goes another army story. While in basic training I developed an ulcer that held me back approximately six weeks. I had two weeks of training to complete so I was placed with a new group of trainees. At one point they were going to what was then called “soldier’s stakes.”

Did I hear that correctly?

I’ve written before about mondegreens — music lyrics people mishear. Many of you mistake Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” line as “Hold me closer, Tony Danza.” Today’s column is along those lines.
