Abbott, TDEM expand small business rapid testing program

Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) have announced the expansion of the COVID-19 Rapid Testing Program for front line workers at Texas small businesses by dedicating 1 million BinaxNow Rapid Tests to the program.

Erath County officials reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday night (Jan. 28). Six of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville and two were rural residents of the county.

Fishing report

BROWNWOOD Water lightly stained; 52 degrees; 2.75 low. Largemouth bass are slow with crankbaits, spoons, and jigs near creeks, rocky shorelines, and fallen timber. Crappie are fair on minnows in brush piles and timber edge near a creek channel or drop off.

Crop Report

Central district: Consistent rainfalls, including 4-6 inches of snowfall, and cool conditions occurred. Moisture conditions improved dramatically. Pecan harvest continued with very good yields and fair to good quality, but prices were bad. Small grains looked very good.

Nursing professor honored

Tarleton State University’s Dr. Chiquesha Davis has been named an Excellence in End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium Award winner for 2020. Davis has been a part of the Tarleton faculty for six months. An assistant professor, she heads the Department of Post-Licensure Nursing.

Ex-Dubliner facing transplant with support

“As long as there’s life, there’s hope,” said Dublin native Kim Hanes. “We’ve always lived by that.” It’s advice that’s been beneficial to her and her husband, Carey, who is facing a heart transplant soon.

Filing now open in city, school races

Filing has opened for two City Council races and three Dublin ISD School Board positions during the May 1 General election. City Council seats up for election are those filled by Darrell Curry and Sammy Moore.
