Lesa Durham Pearson has worked as a waitress at Highway 6 Cafe in DeLeon for 21 years. She loves meeting people in the community through her work, and is a steadfast fixture in the lives of the Cafe’s early morning coffee drinkers. “Those people mean the world to me,” she said.

DeLeon Peach festival this weekend

The DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival returns this weekend promising a full schedule of fun. This year’s entries include: Thursday, Aug. 4 6 p.m. Triple T Amusement Carnival (Midway) 8 p.m. Jodi Nix sponsored by Farley’s and De Leon Tire (Festival stage) Friday, Aug. 5 6 p.m.

Blood drive held in honor of 5-year-old

A young girl in need and her family are asking everyone to donate blood at a blood drive this weekend. Carter BloodCare will be hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 in the Carter BloodCare Bus at First National Bank of Dublin in honor of Josey Roman of Comanche.

Elks pack park for cookoff, car show
