Valentine’s Banquet set for Feb. 18 Double N Cowboy Church will be hosting a Valentine’s Banquet from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 for $25 a person with a chicken fried steak dinner, dancing, a live band, games, photos and prizes. Childcare is available for $5 per child, or $20 for 4 or more.

Sales tax up for December

Dublin sales tax collections were up substantially in December, at 10.04% higher compared to December 2021, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar this month. For the month of December 2022, Dublin received $65,246.59 compared to $59,291.

Jan. 30 A reporting person requested a criminal trespass at his restaurant due to ongoing issues. A welfare check was requested in the 700 block of Grafton due to a dog being out in bad weather. An officer checked and the dog has shelter to get out of the weather.

Area history buffs are invited to Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Museum at 6 p.m. Friday, March 31, to sample spirits from Sledge Distillery and learn about the history of Thurber, Texas. Tickets are $15 and your empty glass goes home with you. Tickets can be purchased through the W.K.

The Stephenville Knights of Columbus begin their annual Lenten Fish Fry Friday, February 24 at Newman Hall. The weekly event will run from 5-7 p.m. Fridays thru March 31. The meal will consist of fish, coleslaw, hushpuppies, french fries, tea, and dessert. Prices this year are $15 on all orders.
