Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts will conclude its spring season with several concerts.
Thursday, Tarleton’s Jazz III ensemble, directed by Wade Girton, will play the music of Count Basie, Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk as well as compose a blues tune on the spot.
Jazz II, led by Tom Burchill, is part of Thursday’s show. Burchill, a guitarist, will be in Friday’s faculty jazz combo concert, too. The faculty concert features guest trombone artist Sarah Jacovino, Girton on piano, Michael Heatley on bass, and Connor Kent on drums.
Jazz I, directed by Dr. Andrew Stonerock, hosts its spring show Saturday. Dr. Benjamin Charles will direct the Percussion Ensemble in its Monday, May 1, concert.
All performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and all are in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center in Stephenville.
Seating is general admission, with tickets $5 or free with a Tarleton ID.
