Before the Texans begin the spring portion of their 2022-23 campaign, they are locking down their roster for 2023-24.
Tarleton Men’s Golf announced on Thursday that they have signed Melissa, Texas, native Chandler Barch, who will make his Texan debut next season.
Barch played the 202122 season at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California.
“I’m excited to have Chandler join the program and to see what he can do over the next two years,” head coach Chance Cain said. “He’s a late bloomer and really coming into his own. Distance won’t be an issue with a club head speed around 130 miles per hour, and he has a lot of potential if he keeps improving at the pace he is. The way he competes and his work ethic are exactly what we are looking for to keep improving this program.”
Barch ended his freshman year with two of his better performances, posting an even-par 72 at the Orange Empire Conference-Inland Division’s third tournament, then bettering that with a -1 (71) at the CCCAA SoCal Regionals.
Playing at Melissa High School all four years, Barch helped his team win the district tournament each season, and the regionals tournament twice. His senior year, he boosted Melissa to a fourth place finish in the 2020-21 4A Boys Golf State Tournament. As a sophomore, he helped them take fifth place at state.
Barch will be pursuing a business degree from Tarleton State University when he arrives in Stephenville.
