The Lingleville Cardinals fought their way through an evenly-matched away game against Cranfills Gap.
Head Lingleville football coach Jim Bays called the game a “slug fest” but was proud of the way his team played in all three phases.
“In fact, I can’t point out one or two that stood out because they all did,”he said in praise of his players.
The game ended 34-26 in Cranfills Gap’s favor, coming down to the final seconds.
Simon Dominguez passed for two touchdowns while Klayson Guajardo and Jacob Koke ran in a TD each. Erik Rodriguez and Eduardo Rangel both fielded two onside kicks each.
“These kids are so much better and more confident than last year it’s a night and day difference,” said Bays. “Our record doesn’t show how good we really are. We were a couple plays away from being 3-2 instead of 1-4.”
