Sound earns Sweeps

The Sound of Dublin earned its first Sweepstakes award since the 2019-20 school year.

This distinction came after the band traveled to the UIL concert and sightreading evaluation at Hamilton High School in Hamilton.

The Sound of Dublin earned Division 1 ratings (the highest possible rating) in their performances of a set of three pieces they have been practicing since January and a piece they had not rehearsed or seen before that day.

Those results paired with the band’s Division 1 rating at the Marching Band contest at Mineral Wells in October.

“We are all proud of the students and all they have overcome to achieve this recognition,” said Dublin ISD head band director Ronny Luedke. “The band will now shift its focus to our spring concert.”

“A date for the concert has not been set, but should be soon,” Luedke continued. The band will learn five new pieces to display their talent at this concert, which will also include the Junior High band performing. You won’t want to miss out!”
