Dublin fans crowded around the Corner Lot Saturday morning to wish the Sound of Dublin Band luck as they traveled to Denton for the Area B competition after receiving Division 1 ratings at Regionals with their ‘Alien Invasion’ routine.
Although the band did not make it into the top 10 to compete in the finals, DISD Band Director Ronny Luedke reported there was plenty to praise.
“Although the band did not end up in the top 10 in the prelim round to make finals, we are super proud of their performance as it was the best show so far this year,” Luedke exclaimed.
“We are looking forward to working on the things that the judges commented about and put them into play for the future,” he continued. “This year’s band was a young band, with only 8 seniors and juniors out of the 57 member band. The immediate future is bright for this group of kiddos, and we can’t wait to see what the competitive season has in store for them next fall.”
Luedke reported that the Dublin Band will be eligible to advance to state next year as 3A will have state championships and, after a recent UIL vote, “every classification will have the opportunity to advance to state from this point on”every year.
“Again, to say I am proud of what these kids have accomplished this year is an extreme understatement,” Luedke reiterated.
