Sound off to Area

Body

The Sound of Dublin band is heading to Area for the third straight year after earning first division ratings (the highest possible) from every judge at the Oct. 14 Regional competition in Mineral Wells.

DISD head band director Ronny Luedke described the performance as “exceptional” and “the best performance from the Sound of Dublin band in my tenure here.”

Dublin advanced as they performed “The Hidden Cathedral” featuring selections from “The Witch and the Saint” and “Come Thou Font of Every Blessing.”

Luedke previously reported the routine has been a bit more challenging than he expected because it on a different timing than most routines (3/4 time signature) and a middle section that drops percussion which puts more focus on the band members’ movements.

Even with these challenges, the Sound rose to the occasion to advance.

“To say we are incredibly proud is an understatement,” said Luedke. “These kids work hard every day, and are buying in to the will to compete!”

The band directors offered thanks to the booster club parents for making breakfast on Saturday and Dublin PD and EMS for escorting them in their send-off as they headed to Mineral Wells.
