Lady Cardinals fans got to witness a 56-28 victory and a career milestone for senior Ciklali Rangel as she celebrated hitting 1,000 points during the home game against Three Way Friday, Jan. 24.

Rangel was just 4 points earning 1,000 as a varsity Lady Cardinal when the game began.

“It was so great to see the entire gym erupt when she scored her 2nd basket in the game,” said head Lingleville girls basketball coach Brandon Haught. “She was so surprised that we called time out and had gifts for her. I’m so proud of her for what she has contributed to Lady Cardinal athletics over the years and she absolutely deserved it.”

“Now her name goes down in history with other Lingleville greats,” he added. “She is one that our younger girls look up to, and it’s great to see a kid like that reach this milestone.”

Rangel and Jones led the team in scoring against Three Way with 18 and 20 points respectively.

This win followed a 75-28 loss to Gorman (No. 2 in the state) Tuesday, Jan. 21 and a 43-27 loss to Huckabay Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Despite playing such a heavyweight, Haught said his players put up a good fight against Gorman.

“We came out swinging; Ciklali and Kenleigh were on a scoring tear in the first half, and we found ourselves with the lead deep into the 2nd quarter,” Haught said. “Gorman started to get hot from the 3 point line and we ran out of gas in the 2nd half.”
