The Dublin Lions added two to the win column in back-to-back victories over Eastland last week.

“The guys did great,” exclaimed head baseball coach Andrew Norwood of the Lions. “They kept battling all the way to the end, and this ball club continues to surprise me! They keep battling for each other and keep improving every game!”

The Lions hit the road Tuesday, March 31 where they bested the Mavericks 8-4.

Ivan Phelps scored two runs while Aaron Rodriguez, Kyler Gaitan, Paxton Loper, Joe Salinas, Dalton Bullard and Caden Vanbebber each took a turn passing home plate.

Gaitan snagged two hits while Rodriguez, Loper, Salinas, Bullard, Phelps and Vanbebber each got a hit.

Bullard also grabbed a double, Salinas netted two runs batted in (RBI) and Gaitan had one RBI.

The Lions followed this with a 5-3 victory over Eastland at home Thursday, April 2.

Dublin amassed 10 hits in the game with Alex Teten, Vanbebber and Phelps while Vanbebber, Phelps, Gaitan, Loper and Salinas each driving in one run.

“Offensively, we hit the ball well,” said Norwood. “To help us get the lead Jaden Gauna started the bottom of 6th with a tapper to right center to help him advance to second, and then Kyler Gaitan was up to bat who hit it to right field which allowed Jaden Gauna to advance to home.”

“Joe did a great job pitching and only gave up two hits, one earned run and then Dalton Bullard came in to help us get out of the sixth inning! Aaron Rodriguez came in clutch once again and closed the game for us.”
