The Lingleville ISD School Board reviewed results from a water quality survey and heard recommendations from the committee to upgrade athletic field/facilities during the board’s regular meeting Thursday.
The water survey was ordered after some had raised concerns about the taste of water on the campus. A total of 84 responded to the survey with parents, students, staff and community members taking part. The majority of those responded that the water was “good” and needed no changes. Fifteen percent of the respondents disagreed.
It was remarked that the options available to the school in treating the well water were limited because they had to keep treatment in acceptable guidelines.
Board members were presented a list of all the upgrade that the athletic facilities committee members would like to see. The board asked the committee to prioritize the list to determine costs, desires and timelines for the upgrades.
Board members also passed a guided reading library program for students in kindergarten through 6th grade and amended the school policy to require the superintendent to live within the district or an adjacent district.
The 2022-2023 school calendar was also approved during the meeting with the next school year set to start on Aug. 22, 2022 and end on May 26, 2023. (The calendar is visible on the school’s main page at lingleville.us.)
Following an executive session, the board proposed a non-renewal of the contract for Tammy Coan and hired Trent Taylor as coach/teacher.
