The Dublin Lions were looking for wins this week to climb back up the district ladder following losses to Peaster and Comanche.
The Lions hosted the Peaster Greyhounds Tuesday, Jan.21 with the visitors winning 66-42.
“We were right with them starting the 2nd quarter, and it seemed like we didn’t get some calls we should have,” said head Dublin boys basketball coach Wes Grisham. “Our guys played hard but the shots weren’t falling for us but did for Peaster. I thought our defense did well but our turnovers on offense got the best of us.”
Hunter Jones led scoring with 11 points, 15 rebounds, 1 steal and a block.
Kaden Gaitan followed with 10 pts, 8 reb, 3 steals.
Alex Teten had 8 pts, 3 reb, 3 assists, 1 steal 1 blk Sev Ruiz - 3 pts, 3 reb, 1 steal Jorge Solis - 3 pts, 1 reb, Aiden Jeffery - 3 pts, 2 steals DJ Ferguson - 2 pts, 3 reb, 1 steal Karston Young - 2 pts The Dublin boys traveled to Comanche Friday, Jan. 24 where the Indians came out ahead 66-46.
“That was just a frustrating game,” said Grisham. “We know we’re the better team but we just didn’t execute like we should have and if we don’t stick to the plan it’s going to hurt us. Comanche shot the best they had all year and just couldn’t miss.”
Teten led Dublin in the game with 14 pts, 5 reb, 4 assist, 5 steals Hunter Jones - 11 pts, 10 reb, 2 steals Jeffery - 7 pts, 1 reb, 1 steal Ferguson - 7 pts, 6 reb, 1 asst, 2 steals Gaitan - 4 pts, 6 reb, 3 assist, 1 steal Andrew Maldonado - 2 pts, 1 reb Young - 1 pt, 1 reb The losses dropped Dublin to fourth place in district but the Lions were hoping to bounce back to second with wins against Breckenridge and Eastland this week.
