The Dublin Lions are sitting at second in district after wins against Eastland and Early brought them to 4-1 last week.
Head Lions basketball coach Wes Grisham said his team achieved its goal of playing fast and furious in the Jan. 7 68-46 home victory against Eastland.
“We got the jump on them early and defense really held them down by only allowing 13 points in the first half,” Grisham said. “We got to see a good mix of our players get in the game and keep the up tempo rolling.”
Alex Teten led scoring with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Kaden Gaitan followed with 15 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Also aiding in the win were: Hunter Jones: 6 pts, 6 reb, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks DJ Ferguson: 4 pts, 6 reb, 1 assist, 3 steals Francisco Garcia: 3 pts, 2 reb, 1 steal Aiden Jeffery: 3 pts Caden Vanbebber: 3 pts, 1 reb Karston Young: 3 pts Rey Chacon: 2 pts, 4 reb, 3 steals Ivan Phelps: 2 pts, 3 reb, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block Leon Vasquez: 2 pts, 2 reb, 1 steal Sev Ruiz: 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block The Lions followed this with a 76-58 victory over Early Jan. 11.
“We continue to roll through district capturing wins and establishing our dominance,” said Grisham. “Our guys are really putting pieces together throughout different teams with different strengths. We even got to move up some freshman that made their mark in the game and competed well.”
