The Dublin Lions will get their first chance to face some competition Friday, Aug. 17 when they face the Hamilton Bulldogs in scrimmages on the Kooken Field in Hamilton.

JV teams will run through 40 plays starting at 6 p.m. Varsity will follow around 7 p.m., taking on four sets of 15 before playing one quarter with a running clock.

“This will give us a great opportunity to see how we line up against competition,” said head football coach/athletic director Greg Hardcastle.

Hardcastle said this field test follows some strong performance in the intersquad scrimmage held Saturday, Aug. 10 at Cervetto Field. Players donned full equipment for the first time this season and spent 40 minutes practicing before running plays in scrimmage.

“The kids competed well,” said Hardcastle. “We saw some strengths on the field and some things we need to work on.”
