The Dublin Lions ended their season Feb. 14 in a 61-48 home loss to Early, but Dublin Head Lions Basketball Coach Wes Grisham is proud of the way his players fought throughout a tough schedule

“We had a lot of ups and downs this season, ending the year with a 14-18 record, but our record doesn’t show how closely competitive we were with great teams,” said Grisham.

“I appreciate all the hard work the seniors put in this year,” he continued. “Their guidance and leadership lays down the foundation for next year. We had a lot of talent from the underclassmen step up and make roles on varsity and some guys from JV proved their worth and competed well. The future looks good for Dublin Hoops!”

On their final game, Grisham said the Lions did everything right in the game plan against Early but “when it came down to making our shots, they just didn’t fall.”

Grisham said the Dublin boys were 15 of 30 in free throws.

“We were getting to the basket and Early was willing to foul us to shoot free throws; we just didn’t score the given points, he said.

The Lions still fought through these issues to within two points in the last four minutes of the game, but Early scored some three-pointer to pull away.

Ayush Patel led scoring with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

Dalan Rasberry scored 13 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists. Sev Ruiz scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 1 charge.

Kaden Gaitan earned 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals Fernando Esparza had 2 points and 2 steals.

Kevin Patton had 4 steals.

Aiden Salyer had 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist.

Aure Ruiz had 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
