Dublin Lions had given up two games in the Brown County Tournament when they took the Early High School diamond Friday, Feb. 23 to face the Goldthwaite Eagles.

When time was called, the Lions had claimed the first victory under Coach Corde Morris 10-2.

“We’re learning baseball as a team and I feel like getting better as a whole,” said Morris, who added he felt the team had a good mix of experience levels. “We’ve got some kids that haven’t ever played, some that have been playing for a while and four seniors.”

“I’m explaining to the kids that we’re literally building a foundation from the ground up,” said Morris. “We’ve got a long way to go, but we’re working on it.”

The Dublin boys scored 10 runs on 13 hits in the final tourney game with only 3 errors across 6 innings.

Key performers in this victory included: Zak Loper who struck out 10 batters and Cameron Patton who was 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs batted in, 3 Stolen Bases and 3 Runs Scored.
