Lifters place in meets

Dublin Lion and Lady Lion powerlifters had a busy week with appearances at the Justin Monk Invitational in Stephenville on Feb. 5 and the Tribe Classic in Comanche on Feb. 6 with several scoring high enough to earn points for the school.

In Stephenville, Fatima Mendez led scoring with a third place finish in the girls 220 with a total of 535 pounds lifted (220 squat, 100 bench, 215 dead lift). Chloe Sullivan got 4th in the same class with a total of 455 (175 squat, 80 bench, 200 DL) Jayden Rios got 5th in the boys 242 with a total of 990 (390 squat, 190 bench, 410 DL).

Lingleville Lady Cardinal powerlifters Jazmin Martinez and Maria Hernandez also placed high at the event. Martinez placed 1st in the girls 97 with a total of 350 (130,60,

160) while Hernandez placed 3rd in the girls 105 with 420 (165, 80, 175).

At the Tribe Classic, Cassidy Adair topped the girls 198 with a total of 905

(325 squat, 245 bench, 335 DL).

Scoring second place finishes were Alonso Moreno in the boys 165 with a total of 1310 (530,

300, 480) and Samantha Martinez in the girls 97 with a total of 410 (150, 75,

185).

Earning third place were Paul Adams in the boys 114 with a total of 635

(215,145,275) and Jaylie Williams with a total of 575

(225,100, 250).
