The Dublin Lady Lions had a fun week on the court, squaring off with parents and alumni Tuesday, Sept. 2 and claiming a 2-1 victory at home against DeLeon Saturday, Sept. 6.
The Varsity and both JV teams had their work cut out for them as they went toe-to-toe Tuesday against squads of parents, family members, neighbors and former Lady Lions who didn’t go easy on the younger players.
“Alumni Night was such a fun experience!,” exclaimed head volleyball coach Hannah Smith. “It was my first time getting to ref the Alumni-Parent game, and the laughs, smiles, and energy from our community made it all worth it. I loved seeing all the parents hustle their athletes on the side—the bond between parents and athletes was so special to watch. I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
Those good spirits continued Saturday as Dublin hosted DeLeon and came out with a win. DeLeon brought the fight in the first set, scoring 26-24. Dublin rallied back as the Lady Lions and Bearcats went claw-toclaw for a close 25-23 in Dublin’s favor. Lady Lions broke free in set three, claiming it 25-13. JV Gold also clinched a two-set victory against DeLeon.
