The Dublin Lady Lions basketball hit the Cross Plains hardwood Tuesday, Oct. 29 and claimed a 40-37 win for the first game of the season.
“We had great energy and did some great things,” said head girls basketball coach/girls’ athletic director Kim Perez.
The Lady Lions were already up 11-10 by the end of the first quarter and kept the lead 20-19 at the half.
Dublin extended their control 30-24 by the end of the third quarter but Cross Plains fired back at the end with 13 points in the fourth.
It wasn’t enough to wrench the win from Dublin who got 10 in the final quarter.
“It was a nail biter at the end of the 4th quarter but we were able to pull through,” said Perez. “The girls are ready to make a statement this year.”
Olivia Salyer led scoring with 14 point, thanks in part to a lot of successful free throws.
Navalee White put in 9 points including two 3-pointers. Also scoring were Derby Kukla (7 points), Adriana Stewart (5), Emma Vargas (3) and Adriana Rosalez ( 2).
