Lady Lions 1-1 after Early victory

The Dublin Lady Lions were 1-1 in District following a Friday night victory over Early at home.

The game started out with some give and take but the home team started hitting their stride in the second quarter and was leading 28-21 at the half. The finals score was 58-40 in the Lady Lions’ favor.

Head Dublin girls basketball coach Kim Perez praised her players’ tenacity, saying “The girls fought hard!”

Gabby Herrera led Dublin scoring in the game with 13 points followed by NavaLee White with nine and Emma Vargas and Libby Turner, who each had eight.

Madilyn Loper and Sierra Chapa each had five; Madison Turley and Sarah Resendiz put in three and Olivia Salyer and Jaiden Harrell each contributed two points.

The Friday night win followed a 81-25 away loss to the Brock Lady Eagles.

“It was rough night,” said Perez of the loss. “we did not have the intensity we needed to stop them. Brock had a great shooting night and we could not recover.”

Loper led the scoring in Brock with eight; Turner had six, White had four; Herrera had three; and Turley and Vargas each had two.
