Lady Cards still third in state

The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball team kept their third place standing in state heading into this week after splitting wins to move the season record to 21-5 On Sept. 16, the Lady Cards claimed a three-set victory over Rochelle with head coach Brandon Haught calling out Nevaeh Jacinto for leading the way to the W.

She came away with several kills, but I think the biggest, and scariest, point she proved on Tuesday was that she is such a serving threat,” asserted Haught. “She had 14 aces in the first set alone. I don’t think I have ever seen anything like that before. She ended up with 20 aces for the game which is probably the new school record for an individual.”

“We set the school team record with 27 in a game last year,” he said for comparison. “Simply incredible. Serving is definitely our best ability and I think we are one of the best serving squads in 1A.”

Lingleville followed this with a 0-3 loss to Coleman in which they scored 23, 23 and 21 against the opponents’ 25s.

“I’m going to take the blame for this one,” Haught said. “Our girls played a pretty solid game, not their best but not bad, and Coleman came out with a great plan against our coverage. That won’t happen again though. I’m glad we got to see a big school like Coleman with some serious height and attacking ability, because  thanks to theses results:
