The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball girls extended their winning streak to five after a 4-set victory over Strawn Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Lingleville Gym.

The Lady Cards took the court fired up and claimed set 1 25-16 over Santo who got energized in set 2 and took it 25-21. Both teams stayed strong in the fight with Lingleville triumphing in both sets 3 and 4 at 25-23.

“Strawn came back firing in the 2nd, which forced us to make some changes in the 3rd,” said Lingleville head volleyball coach Brandon Haught. “I think those changes helped us just enough to take those last two close sets, but make no mistake about it, the kids went out there and got us this win. They wanted it bad!”

“The kids were really hyped up after this win,” Haught added. “It has been a long time since Lingleville has beaten Strawn, and so this was a really special one to us. I’m proud of every single Lady Cardinal for their effort in this game!”

Haught called out Luz Lopez and Denise Toledo for their efforts in the back row; Sophie Hudson, Emma Hudson and Madison Howle on the net and blocking; Kenleigh Jones and Cambri Coburn in hitting and digging; and Dylan Gibson in assists.

Stat Leaders were: Madison Howle (15 kills and 5 blocks), Kenleigh Jones (19 digs and 10 kills), Dylan Gibson (28 assists), Denise Toledo (27 digs) and Sophie Hudson (8 kills).

The game was preceded by a JV game in which Lingleville claimed the win in two sets. Stand out players were Brynlee James and Ava Mendez on the front row.
