Dublin’s Celeste Alvarez lifted a state ticket as her teammates also showed strength during the Region 2, Division 3 Powerlifting Meet held at Dublin Secondary School Saturday.
Alvarez claimed the top spot in the 220 weight class by lifting a combined 910 pounds.
“All of our girls competed very well,” said Dublin Powerlifting Coach Greg Hardcastle
Other Dublin girls who had qualified for and lifted at the Regional meet were:
■ Daisy Almazan, fifth place in the girls 97 with 425 pounds
■ Priscilla Perez, 10th in the girls 198 with 675 pounds
■ Emilee Beam, 13th in the girls 181 with 590 pounds
■ Karlie White, fifth in the girls 165 with 710 pounds
■ Mia Jaimes, eighth in the girls 165 with 685 pounds
■ Lucero Marquez, eighth in the girls 105 with 460 pounds
■ Mariana Ortiz, eighth in the girls 198 with 690 pounds
■ Analise Burciaga, sixth in the girls 198 with 750 pounds
As of press time, Dublin was also sending four qualifying boys to the THSPA Region 6, Division 2 meet at Kennedale High School on Tuesday, March 9.
Those were Lisandro Ortiz in the 123 pound class, Arnoldo Moreno (132), Mosiah Lolohea (242) and Victor Juarez (308). Also traveling to the meet were alternates Luis Ordonez (165) and Michael Stanley (220).
