The Dublin Lady Lion softball team came out to an early lead against DeLeon in their Tuesday, Feb. 17 away match-up as they led 4-0 in the second.
Although DeLeon the lead by the end of the third, Dublin kept strong pace tying several times as DeLeon gained advantages and capturing the lead at the top of the fifth 10-8 Ultimately, DeLeon took the win 18-14.
“I’m proud of the fight and the effort the girls are showing,” said softball coach Skye Gaitan. “We’re improving, we’re competing and we are moving in the right direction.”
Leadoff hitter Kaylee Hayes led the Lady Lions in hits, scoring 3 in 3 at bats. Dublin Varsity Lady Lions had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 17 walks for the game. Cassidy Adair and Adriana Stewart led the team with three walks each. Hayes and Tylor Nail each stole multiple bases for Dublin as the team totaled 10 stolen bases in the game.
