Dublin is set to host dozens of school in upcoming district and area track meets, according to Dublin Athletic Director Bob Cervetto.
This will start with the District 8-3A Track and Field meet, starting with field events at 10 a.m. on March 31 and April 1. (Running prelims will start at 2 p.m. each day.)
Competing in this event is Dublin, Bangs, Brock, Comanche, Early, Eastland, Millsap and Peaster.
“Since the UIL lifted the ban, we’re able to have all eight schools and all four divisions at one site,” Cervetto said, adding that each school is in charge of its own safety protocols.
On April 9, The Cervetto Field will host the District 19 1A Track Meet, which will be Lingleville, Bluff Dale, Gordon, Gorman, Huckabay Strawn and Three-Way.
The District 19 and 20 1A Area Meet will follow on April 12, adding Arlington Texas Leadership, Blum, Covington, Iredell,
Kopperl, Morgan and Walnut Springs to list of competitors on site.
The District 7 and 8 3A Area meet will be April 15. District 7 includes Bowie, Breckenridge, Henrietta, Holliday, Jacksboro, Nacona and Wichita Fall City View.
This is the first time Dublin has been able to host the Area event since the alignment went East. Jacksboro is slated to host Area next year.
This distinction is just one of many in Dublin’s rise to becoming a destination to host large athletic events.
