The Lingleville Cardinals claimed their first victory of the season as they traveled to Cranfills Gap Friday, Sept. 27.

The game ended at the half under the mercy rule with Lingleville leading 51-0.

LHS Head football coach Jim Bays reported his team came out of the gates hot as Jorge Toledo threw a passing touchdown to Cruz Alarcon on the third play of the game. Toledo had a total yardage of 227 with 155 in passing and 72 in rushing.

Cruz caught two passing TDS and Isaac Martinez caught a third while Reid Cogburn, Klayson Guajardo (who intercepted the ball and ran it in for the Cards) and Zaiden Bennett each rushed in one.

“Defense was equally as good allowing -2 yards all game,” said Bays. “It was a great game on both sides as the boys played like their hair was on fire. This is a glimpse of the team we expected to have. Hopefully we’re rounding into form at just the right time.”

Cardinals will get continue to work on the game in a bye week before returning to the field Oct. 11 in an away game against Gordon.
