The Lingleville Cardinals finished last week 4-1 after a 54-37 home win over Millsap before taking on opponents in the home tournament.
“A lot of hoops were played last week,” said head Lingleville boys basketball coach Garrett Stewart. “We showed up defensively and held teams below their average. I’m really proud of how we are playing defense, we still need to work on offensive execution.”
In tourney play, The Cards bested Strawn 56-22 and Coleman 40-30. The home team dropped game 3 to Richland Springs 45-38 but returned to claim a final 43-31 win over Newcastle.
“As long as we continue to play solid defense we have the opportunity to be in any game,” said Stewart. “We start district play this week with Gorman where we will have our first ever teddy bear toss benefitting Cooks Children’s hospital, and Three Way Friday to go into the break. We will return Dec 26-28 in the Texas Bank Holiday Classic in Brownwood.”
