The Lingleville Cardinals played for the championship title in the Santo tournament after claiming wins over the Sidney Eagles (42-26) and the Merdian Yellowjackets (36-28).

In the final game, the Cardinals took on the Huckabay Indians in a competitive match.

“We got down by 15 at one point and fought back within 4,” said LHS athletic director/head boys basketball coach Steven Bailey. Huckabay claimed the W 41-36 in the end.

Bailey described the game as “great pre-district matchup” to get the Cards ready.

The Santo appearance followed a fierce home game on Dec. 6 against the Graford Rabbits. Both teams kept the other side from scoring throughout the first quarter, but Graford got the lead 27-15 in the second half and kept control.
