The Lingleville Cardinals claimed the Regional Quarterfinal Championship Saturday in 42-38 victory over Cherokee at Brownwood High School.

“We knew it was going to be a really tough game,” said Lingleville Head Basketball Coach Steven Bailey. “Our goal was to keep their guards out of the paint and after the first quarter, we did a great job of that.

Bailey said the Cards, who have been undefeated since starting district play didn’t shoot their best against Cherokee but they had “some gutsy performers in Kyler Philips with 11 points and Alex Carrizales with 13.”

“This was a great team win with everyone pitching in,” he added. “We really limited their offensive rebounds, keeping them to a lot of one-shot possessions, which was vital. I’m really proud of my guys.”

This victory followed the Cardinals claiming the Area Championship Thursday in a 75-36 triumph over Richland Springs at Brownwood.

The Cardinals were heading to Glen Rose Tuesday night, where they were facing Graford in the Regional Semifinals Results will be provided next week.
