The Dublin powerlifting boys took gold as they hosted 20 schools and hundreds of lifters in the annual Dublin Invitational Powerlifting Meet Saturday.
The Dublin girls also had a strong showing taking third as a team.
Both teams had multiple members increase on the total they lifted
On the boys side Michael Stanley was named the best overall lifter after lifting a total of 1,380 pounds (505 in squat, 380 in bench, 495 in dead lift).
The boys’ first place finish was also aided by the following strong performances:
■Lisandro Ortiz, first in the 123 with a total of 805 pounds (305 in squat, 185 in bench, 315 in dead lift)
■Bernie Ortega, first in the 198 with a total of 1,250 pounds (460 in squat, 305 in bench, 485 in dead lift)
■Cameron Patton, second in the 132 with a total of 820 pounds (300 in squat, 220 in bench, 300 in dead lift)
■Elijah Gonzalez, second in the 148 with a total of 940 pounds (375 in squat, 205 in bench, 360 in dead lift)
■Luis Ordonez, second in the 165 with a total of 1,180 pounds (425 in squat, 305 in bench, 450 in dead lift)
■ Adam Spharler, fifth in the 132 with a total of 695 pounds (230 in squat, 165 in bench, 300 in dead lift)
■ Alonzo Moreno, fifth in the 148 with a total of 880 pounds (365 in squat, 165 in bench, 350 in dead lift)
■ Eddy Hernandez, fifth in the 305 with a total of 1,015 pounds (385 in squat, 245 in bench, 385 in dead lift)
The girls’ third place finish was also aided by the following strong performances:
■ Daisy Almazan, first in the 97 with a total of 435 pounds (165 in squat, 85 in bench and 185 in dead lift)
■ Celeste Alvarez, second in the 220 with a total of 880 pounds (330 in squat, 225 in bench, 325 in dead lift)
■ Marianna Ortiz, second in the 198 with a total of 745 pounds (315 in squat, 135 in bench, 295 in dead lift)
■ Priscilla Perez, fifth in the 198 with a total of 595 pounds (215 in squat, 120 in bench, 260 in dead lift)
■ Lucero Marquez, sixth in the 123 with a total of 430 pounds (165 in squat, 90 in bench, 175 in dead lift)
■ Carla DeLaCruz, seventh in the 165 with a total of 545 pounds (215 in squat, 105 in bench, 225 in dead lift)
■ Mackenzie Taff, ninth in the 114 with a total of 400 pounds (145 in squat, 80 in bench, 175 in dead lift)
