The Dublin Lions went 1-2 in tournament play at Bluff Dale last week with a 15-0 closeout and solid plays to finish the tourney.
“That last game they played better than they have since I’ve been here,” said head baseball coach Corde Morris of the team working together.
The game in question ended in a 6-3 loss to International Leadership of Texas Keller, but Dublin was ahead 3-1 before the last inning and Morris is certain the Lions would have added more runs if time hadn’t been called.
Zak Loper had 4 strikeouts and went 1-3 at the plate 1 run batted in. Cameron Patton also went 1-3 at the plate with 2 stolen bases and scoring a run.
This followed a 15-0 win for Dublin against Gorman where the Lions scored 15 on 5 hits and 0 errors.
Aaron Rodriguez pitched three innings, striking out 4, walking 1 and allowing 0 hits.
Ivan Phelps went 1-2 at the plate with 3 RBIs and added 3 stolen bases.
Dublin started out play in the tourney with a 9-1 loss to Hico Where Aaron Rodriguez went 1-3 at the plate, scoring the only run and stealing 2 bases.
The Lions are headed to tournament play in DeLeon on Saturday, March 9 where they will play Huckabay at 9 a.m. a n d Goldthwaite at 2 p.m.
