Dublin Lady Lions fans were treated to a crowdpleasing afternoon matinee Tuesday, Nov. 21 as the Dublin girls hosted Meridian in 42-35 victory for the home team.

“We needed this dub,” said head Lady Lions basketball coach Kim Perez. “It helped us mentally. We had some great defense.”

Olivia Salyer led scoring with 17 followed by Adriana Stewart with 7. Adriana Rosalez, Derby Kukla and Emma Vargas each scored 4. Madison Turley scored 3, Sydney Master nabbed 2 and Wendy Calderon had 1.

This win was welcome after 1-3 tournament appearance at the Hamilton Tournament the week before as they beat Abilene Christian 36-30 and lost to Gorman (69-15), Hico (34-29) and Zephyr (47-40).

In the Abilene game, Kukla led scoring with 12, Stewart had 9, Salyer had 6, Master with 4, Vargas with 3, and Turley had 2.

In the Gorman game, Turley and Kukla had 3, Salyer, Calderon, Vargas, Rosalez had 2 each and Stewart had 1.

In the Hico game, Salyer led with 17, Rosalez had 6, Ingrid Hernandez and Master had 2 a piece. Calderon and Stewart had 1.

In the Zephyr game, Vargas led scoring with 14. Stewart had 7. Rosalez, Turley and Kukla had 5 each. Master had 4, Salyer had 2.

The Lady Lions will face several opponents in the Dublin Athletic Booster Club Tournament Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

On Thursday, Nov. 30 they will face Brownwood at 6:30 p.m. in the main gym. On Friday, Dec. 1 they will face Cross Plains (9:20 a.m., Gym 1) and Goldthwaite (5:20 p.m., Gym 3).

The JV Girls will play at the following times: ■ Vs. Santo, 6:30 p.m., 11/30, Gym 3

■ Vs. Tolar, Noon, 12/1, Gym 2

■ Vs. Gorman, 2:40 p.m., 12/1, Gym 2

■ Vs. Goldthwaite, 8 p.m., 12/1, Gym 2 Further games will be determined by winners in pool play.
