Lady Lions were treated to an exciting battle and victory Friday on the home court as Dublin took on Bangs.

The home team was down 9-17 at half time but closed the gap mightily in the second half.

“We faced a lot of adversity that game,” said head girls basketball coach Kim Perez. “Nothing seemed to be going in our favor. Three players fouled out, and we struggled to get some offense going early in the game.”

Perez was proud her players never quit though and they were able to overtake the obstacles for a W.

“We didn’t get on a run until the 4th quarter,” Perezreported.“[NavaLee] White hit a 3 and put us up 24-23 with 3 minutes left.”

This was followed by a big bucket scored by Olivia Salyer to bring Dublin ahead 26-25.

Bangs brought the ball down court again and scored to tie it up 26-26.

Wendy Calderon cinched the win by hitting a 3-pointer with just 12 seconds left on the clock, ending it 29-26.

White led in total points with 14 while Adriana Rosalez, Calderon and Derby Kukla had 3 each. Salyer, Adriana Stewart and Sydney Master each scored 2.

This was an exhilarating redemption following a 58-22 loss against Huckabay on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Perez said the game was a tough one with some good plays by Dublin throughout that never gelled into a rhythm.

Kukla led Dublin scoring with 7 points and 6 rebounds, Salyer had 5 points and 3 rebounds. Madison Turley had 5 points and 4 rebounds. Emma Vargas had 4 points. Adriana Stewart had 1.
