The Dublin Lions ended the 2023 season Friday, Nov. 3 at Jacksboro where they faced the Tigers in a 72-7 loss.
The game ended with Dublin’s Francisco Garcia catching a 50 yard pass from Kaden Gaitan for the sole touchdown of the fourth quarter. Aidan Hernandez completed the kick for the extra point.
“The season didn’t go the way we wanted it to, but there were bright spots,” said head football coach/ athletic director Greg Hardcastle, who is optimistic about the future of the program.
He said he had several younger players make solid plays across the season and they are hoping to build around that and the strategies that returning coach Ryan Thornton has started this year. Many of the team are also stepping into other sports like powerlifting and basketball to help with conditioning between seasons.
“We appreciate the hard work the seniors have put in for four years,” he said. “We are also looking forward to juniors stepping up to their leadership roles.
