Dublin Lady Lions bested the Goldthwaite Lady Eagles 8-6 Feb. 21 on the home diamond.

“I could not be more proud of the girls for the way they stayed positive,” said Head Softball Coach Teryl Dunn. “They battled it out mentally and physically and came together as a team for this game. They set the standard for themselves and grew so much.”

Three Lady Lions were able to cross the home plate twice during the game: Libby Turner, Madison Bennett and Emma Vargas. Olivia Salyer and Chloey Rollins also score a run reach to help clinch the win.

Chloe Cisneroz pitched all seven innings for the Lady Lions and had nine strikeouts and six walks.

The Dublin girls followed this victory with an appearance in the Whitney Tournament.

“During the Whitney tournament we were able to focus on our weaknesses and build off of those,” said Dunn. “While we didn’t come out on top with our games we were able to learn so much and grew as a team. I’m very excited to see how far these girls can go. They are hungry and show it every time they step out on the softball field. It’s an exciting season!”
