The Dublin Lions were looking for a win as they returned home Tuesday, following fierce battles with Early and Brock.

On Friday, Jan. 20, the Lions traveled to Early to take on the Longhorns in a fight, which ended in a 68-59 loss for Dublin.

“Wehadallthemomentum in the first quarter and most of the second quarter,” said head Lions basketball coach Wes Grisham. “We were mixing it up on defense and it was hurting Early.”

“I think our guys responded well but offensively we couldn’t get many shots to fall or get free throws when we dribbled in to get fouled,” Grisham added. “The guys did a great job doing late game situations but early knocked down their free throws to pull away in the end.”

Ayush Patel led the pride in scoring with 29 points, 2 assists, 6 steals, 7 rebounds.

Dalan Rasberry followed with 8 points, 4 assists, 4 blocks and 10 rebounds.

Kaden Gaitan had 7 points, 3 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds.

Also scoring were: Aureliano Ruiz- 6 points, Aiden Salyer- 4 points, Sev Ruiz- 3 points and Kevin Patton- 2 points.

This brawl followed a battle with Brock at home on Jan. 17 which ended in a 73-52 win for the Eagles and a 58-55 nail biter against the Eastland Mavericks on Jan. 13 which was decided in the final minutes of the game and a missed three-pointer that would have tied it up for overtime.

Ayush Patel drives the ball down the court in a recent home game. Patel led scoring in the Jan. 20 game against Brock with 29 points.
