Lions best Breckenridge, Millsap

The Dublin Lions grew their district record with two wins last week.

On Jan. 3, the Lions host Millsap in a 63-56 win for the home team.

“We played well against Millsap and knew we had to rebound better to control the game,” said Dublin head boys basketball coach Wes Grisham. “Offense moved the ball well and defense gave good pressure creating points after their turnovers.”

Standouts included Ayush Patel with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals; Dalan Rasberry with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals; Kaden Gaitan with 11 points, 3 reounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Aureliano Ruiz also amassed 3 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals while Aiden Salyer had 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

The Lions followed this with a 78-75 away victory at Breckenridge on Jan. 6.

“That was a thrilling game!,” said Grisham. “The guys never gave up and stepped up to the challenge to come back to win the game. They did well with our late game situations and executed perfectly.”

Standouts included: Patel- 31 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals Rasberry- 17 points, 12 rebounds, 8 asst, 2 steals, 2 charges Gaitan- 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals Ruiz- 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 charges Kevin Patton- 3 points, 1 steal Kyson Gilman- 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist
