Armstrong Masonic Lodge No. 445 in DeLeon is hosting the Second Annual Holiday Classic Youth Basketball Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Armstrong Lodge Scholarship Program. The program began in the mid-1980s with one $250 scholarship and now awards a $1,500 scholarship to each of two DeLeon High School graduating seniors who compete in an essay competition.
The tournament is open to teams in four classifications. 3rd/4th Grade Boys and Girls and 5th/6th Grade Boys and Girls. The double elimination tournament will begin Thursday and Friday evenings December 8th and 9th, and all day Saturday, December 10th. The venue for the tournament will be the gymnasiums on the De Leon High School campus at 200 W. Manchaca, in DeLeon. Awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each classification.
The registration deadline is Dec. 1.
Entry forms have been sent to teams who participated in the 2021 Inaugural tournament. Additional teams are welcome and may contact Junior Pacheco at (254) 734-6111, email j.pacheco Q9@yahoo.com, for additional information and entry forms. There is a $100 nonrefundable entry fee per team.
