Dublin is sending eight runners to regionals (Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Lubbock) following their performance in the district contest held Oct. 14 in Dublin (JV and Varsity events were delayed from Oct. 13 due to rain while Jr. High events were moved to Oct. 20.)

The Dublin Varsity Boys team (pictured above) snagged a silver in their advancement with the following times:

5. Jilt DeBoer 17:23

6. Giovanni Rodriguez 17:44

8. Emiliano Hernandez 18:03

15. Lisandro Ortiz 18:43

19. Joel Escobar 19:06

22. Ayush Patel 19:20

28. Manuel candelario 20:25

“Dublin was behind Comanche all season and came in clutch to take second place only 5 points behind Eastland,” said Cross Country Coach Wes Grisham. “This district has turned into the hardest competition for region 1.”

Freshman Navalee White (pictured at right) is also making her first appearance at regionals after finishing 8th with a time of 13:47. Grisham said he hope she lets in sink in and can get used to competing at such a high level. Grisham said White often seems to have energy left after each race and hopes she can “let it all out to get to state.”

Sarah Resindez also ran on the varsity girls side, placing 17th with a time of 14:23.

“I’m really proud of all these runners, some have been putting in miles and miles since June 1,” said Grisham. “We had a lot of injuries on the girls side and I think we could’ve competed for a chance at regionals.”

“For the boys side they’re a solid group of upper classmen who push for more everyday,” he continued. “You can tell they ‘want it.’ It’s been a fun season watching them develop, and with the help of Coach Perez, we’re close to their peak.”

Several JV runners also competed for Dublin getting the following times:

Nate caldera 21:49

Adrian Juarez 22:30

Nate Minor 23:36

Thomas Staud 26:49
